The table below details the prototyping board and development tools with which the WinAVR (GCC) AVR tests were performed.
Hardware Setup Prototyping board STK500 prototyping board direct from Atmel Processor ATMega323 Clock Frequency 8Mhz stated but measured at 7.9MHz. RAM interface Internal to the processor ROM interface Internal to the processor Development Tools Setup Compiler GNU based WinAVR – September 2003 build Debug information No debug information. Optimization Various including: command line switch -Os (optimized for size), -O3 (full optimization) and -O0 (no optimization). The switch used is stated for each result.
It should be noted that although 8MHz is the maximum frequency for the AVR ATMega323, other processors in the family can be operated at 16MHz.
