couldn't find more information about an alternative API.
Any hints?

RE: new alternative API

I am not happy with the documentation yet - I want to keep FreeRTOS.org as simple to use as possible and giving lots of options can appear confusing, so its a matter of trying to keep the documentation clear.

If you look here: http://www.freertos.org/temp.html you will see my draft efforts at explaining the differences. Basically, the normal and well documented API would be the normal choice anyway. The alternatives are provided for various reasons but are more specific to particular applications.

The alternative API uses the same function prototypes, just with the addition of 'Alt' in the function names. The OpenWatcom PC demo contains 4 new demo app files that show their usage.
