Part 4: How FreeRTOS supports protection of IoT devices
Register for this session Tue, May 17, 2022 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM PDT
This session will explore the protection of IoT devices and how FreeRTOS is ideally suited to help you achieve connected
and secure products. We will take a closer look at five requirements for Secure IoT devices and then validate it with a
FreeRTOS example solution based on NXP's i.MX RT1060 EVK and EdgeLock SE050 secure element. David Walters and FreeRTOS
founder Richard Barry, both of AWS, will be available to answer your most pressing questions on IoT device protection.
Part 5: Developing a protected IoT device using FreeRTOS, i.MX RT1060 and EdgeLock SE050
Register for this session Tue, May 31, 2022 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM PDT
This session will examine in depth a project that fully integrates the required security features for IoT devices using
the i.MX RT1060 MCU and EdgeLock SE050 secure element. We will demonstrate how the FreeRTOS demo project prepares the
identity of an IoT device in order to connect securely with AWS services. You will leave this session knowing how to get
started with secure application development using the AWS FreeRTOS demo project. David Walters and FreeRTOS founder
Richard Barry, both of AWS, will be available to answer your most pressing questions on IoT device protection.
Part 6: Deploying protected OTA updates with FreeRTOS & i.MX RT1060 with AWS IoT Services
Register for this session Tue, Jun 7, 2022 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM PDT
This session further demonstrates the power of AWS to enable provisioning, onboarding, and device management necessary
for large scale production device deployments using the i.MX RT1060 and EdgeLock SE050 secure element. We will have a
live demonstration of how AWS provides secure fleet management and how to create patches and images required to push
OTA updates at a large scale. Ben Cooke and FreeRTOS founder Richard Barry, both of AWS, will be available to answer
your most pressing questions on IoT device protection.
Previous sessions (recordings):
Part 1: Discover the benefits of using FreeRTOS in your next NXP Design
Now available on demand Tue, Feb 15, 2022
This first session took a close look at the benefits of using FreeRTOS in embedded design, including
why and when to choose an RTOS over baremetal, an overview of NXP's integration of FreeRTOS into the
MCUXpresso SDK, and an exploration of 5 often-overlooked benefits of using FreeRTOS. The session concluded with a
live Q&A with Richard Barry, senior principal engineer at AWS and FreeRTOS founder.
Part 2: Quickly add connectivity using FreeRTOS components (coreMQTT)
Now available on demand Tue, Feb 22, 2022
This session explored FreeRTOS from a connectivity standpoint, looking at the anticipated challenges
that embedded connectivity poses. A demonstration showed how NXP's MCUXpresso SDK and coreMQTT from
FreeRTOS can enable connected applications. The session concluded with a
live Q&A with Richard Barry, senior principal engineer at AWS and FreeRTOS founder.
Part 3: Use advanced techniques and SEGGER tools to Debug a FreeRTOS project
Now available on demand Tue, Mar 8, 2022
This session featured advanced debug and analysis techniques available for use with FreeRTOS-based projects.
In addition to exploring RTOS debug including ThreadAware, visualization, and resolving peripheral/memory
conflicts, we took a closer look at how to improve debug with SEGGER tools. A demonstration of how
SEGGER SystemView and Ozone debug tools can assist with RTOS debugging was shown. The session concluded with a
live Q&A with Richard Barry, senior principal engineer at AWS and FreeRTOS founder.
